The unexpected passing of my youngest daughter over 3 years ago, coupled with losing my grandmother who was more like my mom just 8 months prior, created a profound loss that shattered my world.
In the depths of my grief, I found solace in two significant sources: my horses and my faith in Jesus. These elements became my lifelines, guiding me through the tumultuous waves of sorrow. The therapeutic bond I shared with my horses, often referred to as horse therapy, provided a sense of peace and connection to life, while my faith and participation in Bible study offered a framework for understanding my pain and finding hope.
I want to help other women find the same comfort in God and horses that I found because feeling alone in pain is one of the worst experiences one can endure.
Throughout my healing journey, I encountered groups that claimed to provide grief support in a nurturing atmosphere. Regrettably, these experiences often turned into isolating and judgmental encounters, exacerbating the trauma I sought to alleviate. I am determined that no one else should endure such anguish. Therefore, our primary focus at Riding With Angels is to ensure that women in our program feel enveloped in the love and support they desperately need during these delicate and vulnerable moments.
Although this nonprofit was born from the heart-wrenching experience of losing a child, its mission extends far beyond that singular sorrow. Grief manifests in myriad forms throughout life—whether it be the scars of physical or emotional abuse, the passing of a cherished loved one, or the aftermath of an accident that results in physical harm or loss. Whatever trauma has cast a shadow over your life, you are warmly welcomed here. We are eager to offer our support and guidance as part of our women's healing community as you navigate your journey of healing.
